It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Sichuan and other places. It is harvested in summer and autumn, the mud and sand are removed, and it is dried or used fresh. There are more than 20 species of Centella asiatica in the world, mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the northern and southern hemispheres. It is mainly produced in South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and Japan. There are also distributions in Japan. my country only produces one species of Centella asiatica, which is mainly distributed in various places south of the Yangtze River Basin. It grows in wet places beside roadsides, ditches, and fields, and often grows in patches. [Properties] Centella asiatica often curls up into a ball. The root is cylindrical, 2 to 4 cm long, 1 to 1.5 mm in diameter, and the surface is light yellow or grayish yellow. The stem is slender and curved, yellow-brown, with fine longitudinal wrinkles, and fibrous roots are often born on the nodes. The leaves are mostly wrinkled and broken. The intact leaves are nearly round or kidney-shaped when flattened, with a diameter of 1 to 4 cm, gray-green, and coarse and blunt teeth on the edges; the petiole is 3 to 6 cm long and twisted. The umbels are axillary and short. The fruits are double-hanging, oblate, with obvious raised longitudinal ridges and fine reticular patterns, and the fruit stalks are very short.
